Mindstoke Endurance Sport Symposium
July 17-19, 2026
The purpose of the Mindstoke Endurance Sport Symposium is to bring together researchers, practitioners, coaches, and athletes for a curated discussion of issues of contemporary interest and importance in the psychology of endurance sports. Efforts will be made to bring conversations typically held “in the hallway” into symposium sessions. Session formats will include panel discussions, case examples, small-group exercises, and media presentations.
Symposium attendees will have an opportunity to: (a) share current knowledge and applications pertaining to the psychology of endurance sports; (b) suggest future directions in the psychology of endurance sports; and (c) network with researchers, practitioners, coaches, and athletes with an interest in the psychology of endurance sports.
Symposium sessions will be scheduled to enable attendees to avail themselves of Sedona’s abundant cultural amenities and opportunities for outdoor activity during daylight hours.
Topics of planned sessions include:
- Endurance sport applications of the peak-and-end effect
- Providing in-event support to endurance sport athletes
- Evaluating technological applications in endurance sport
- Alternative metrics in endurance sport
- Using imagery in endurance sport
- Perfectionism in endurance sport
- Psychological issues associated with youth endurance sport involvement
- Self-identity issues in endurance sport
